Sunriver Observatory

Experience the wonders of the night sky at the Sunriver Observatory, one of Central Oregon’s premier astronomy destinations. Visitors can enjoy guided star parties, telescope viewings, and educational programs that explore planets, stars, and galaxies. During the day, the observatory offers engaging exhibits and hands-on activities for all ages, making it a perfect spot for families and curious minds alike. Sunriver Fun

Enjoy a scenic six-mile float on the Deschutes River from the Sunriver Resort Marina to Benham View. Canoes, single or double kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, rafts, and single tubes are available for rent, and all include lifejackets, paddles, and a shuttle ride back to the marina. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards take about two hours, while rafts take around three. Dogs are welcome, making it a great activity for the whole family.

For land-based fun, visit the Sunriver Horse Stable for guided trail rides through the scenic Central Oregon landscape. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, the stable offers memorable experiences for all ages.

Float the River

Enjoy a relaxing day floating the Deschutes River in Sunriver with two great options. You can start at Harper Bridge and float downstream to the Besson Day Use Area for a shorter, scenic trip, or for a longer adventure, begin at the Big River launch and float downstream to Harper Bridge. If you want to make it an all-day experience, start at the Big River launch and continue all the way to the Besson Day Use Area. Both routes offer calm stretches, beautiful scenery, and plenty of spots to relax, making them perfect for families, friends, or anyone looking to enjoy Central Oregon’s rivers.
